Mealworms Product Description

Dried Mealworms are irresistible to many types of poultry, animals and wild birds.  Dried Mealworms can be fed year around and are beneficial when available to wild birds during breeding season, during the winter when typical food sources are more scarce and during the summer months as well.

Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Guinea Hens and Turkeys.

INSECT EATING ANIMALS:

Hedgehogs, Reptiles, Fish, Turtles and Terrapins.

WILD BIRDS:

Robins, Starlings, Thrushes, Wrens, Dunnocks, Blackbirds, Tits, Bluebirds, Woodpeckers and Blue Jays – just to name a few.

Mealworms are the larvae of the darkling beetle and feed on the nutritional content of dampened stored grains, cereals and vegetables.  They are vegetarians and DONOT FEED ON ROTTING MEAT.

Dried Mealworms can be fed year around to many species of birds, animals, insect eaters and poultry.

Mealworms are rich in protein, amino acids and fats.

Because mealworms are dried, their essential nutrients have been preserved which also extends their shelf life – as opposed to earth worms or canned worms, etc.

Once you place dried mealworms in a dish, feeder or tray you will attract additional breeds of wild birds into your yard and patio. After a bit of acclimation and the birds becoming more familiar with you and your area, you may even be able to try hand-feeding the birds straight from the palm of your hand.

Dried Mealworms can be added to regular wild bird seed, poultry mixes, sprinkled and/or mixed into any animal feed.

NOTE: if you are feeding dried mealworms to young baby birds and baby chicks please soak the dried mealworms in water first to re-hydrate them to make the swallowing process gentler.  Soaking the mealworms also adds additional water content to the young birds’ diet, which may be lacking.  Soak the dried mealworms in warm water for at least 5-10 minutes.
